Happy New Year everyone! It’s the dead of winter and I’m wondering which of my plants are going to survive our winter. Fort Worth has pretty mild winters but it does freeze here several times and even a lot of native plants “die back” meaning you have to cut them way back – maybe almost to the ground – and then they grow like crazy come Spring. Here’s another one that I’m not sure about:
It’s pretty funny and a little sad to see this now, thinking how eye catching this plant was just a couple months ago. I bought this at Calloway’s here in Fort Worth. It looked so amazing that I bought a 2nd one a couple months later, and that one was absolutely gorgeous too. But the first frost we got – about a month or so ago – nearly all the leaves just shriveled up and died right off. One hint is – these are not seen much around town. I thought it was because it’s just a newer plant that hasn’t caught on yet. But now I’m a bit afraid this isn’t going to survive a Fort Worth winter. Believe it or not, some websites consider this plant an “evergreen”! Non here. Let me know in the comments if you have a guess.
