Can you identify this plant? This was taken on New Year’s Eve 2020.
It looks like a bunch of sticks but we’ve had some fairly warm, sunny weather over the past several days and you can see some light green shoots budding out near the tips.
I’m not quite done cutting this back for the winter but getting close. This is my first year with this plant and I don’t know exactly how to care for it so I’m learning as I go. I’m trying to cut it back just above where it looks like buds are forming. I bought this plant at Weston Gardens here in Fort Worth this past spring and it grew an insane amount over the spring summer and much of the fall. We got a couple light freezes in the fall and the leaves finally started to die, and it quit growing, so I started cutting it back. I’m not sure if it will survive the winter here, but I’m guessing it will. This is not one of the more common plants seen around town, but it’s in the same family of those that are. I’ll create another post in the Spring, revealing the Mystery plant, but feel free to comment and guess.
Happy New Year!
